Scarlet Alta Eaton

Scarlet Eaton was born today, March 24th at 1:13 PM. 7 lb. 4 oz. She is perfect, blue eyes with brown hair, and Mom was looking fabulous afterwards as well. They will be coming home tomorrow. Jane, Charlie and Jacob met the baby late this afternoon, and they were so darling with her. I feel so blessed and grateful for the safe and healthy birth of our fourth grandchild. Pictures on another day, I have them but no way to get them on my computer from here.

Born on a Blue Day - Daniel Tammet

Daniel Tammet - Born On A Blue Day. - For more funny movies, click here

This young man is amazing to me - I have just finished his book, and he is really quite remarkable. He has new book coming out very soon called 'Embracing the Wide Sky', which I definitely will read. His insights into his own autism and the challenges he has overcome to socialize are some of the most interesting reading I have come across. I actually have never known an autistc person but I have had an interest autism just because it is so interesting.

American Idol

My favorites on American Idol:
Allison (she is my top choice)
Danny
Megan (quirky - I don't think she can win, but I like her)
Matt

in no particular order...Anoop was good tonight, but he's not very consistent. Adam is obviously good, but just too out there for me. Who are your favorites?

Poor Manochehr

Now for Mano's sob story...he is the Super for two plants (one would be bad enough) one larger than the other. The larger one has two big boilers that have tubes that go around them that were up for maintenance in the next shut down coming up in a month or two. Well, first the one set of tubes leaked, and unbelievably, and most unlikely, the second sprung a leak...that was a little over two weeks ago...and we haven't seen hide nor hair of him since. This is bad b/c that plant is not producing (chaching). This is where you can start crying...it's been miserably cold the whole entire time, they work around the clock, and his wife keeps calling him to complain that she has to brush snow off the truck, or that her furnace is on and off not working, or some such 'emergency'. I didn't call all day yesterday which was probably a blessing:-) I do miss him though - I hope he comes home soon. (The picture shows a more relaxed Mano)

My Sentiments Exactly

My new motto...

Stake Women's Conference

I was edified today, for about 45 minutes, because, and this is a sob story, I was late for a variety of reasons. First, my furnace is on the fritz - I think maybe snow on the roof or something, so I shivered all night in a 66 degree C house, b/c I couldn't get a fire started, and the starter on my fireplace in my bedroom also didn't work - it has never not worked before, but of course this would all happen at the same time, so I had to fool around with the furnace, and call around to furnace fixers...b/c Manochehr, who's job all these things are, has been at work for two weeks straight (ok this is not a sob story about him, though truth be told, his story is worse than mine). Also, we are buried in snow here b/c the battery on the quad is dead and so neither Jared nor I have been able to clear the driveway, so I literally four by four out of here, over piles of snow. And last night Jared and Mark slept at Eli's, so I was on my own...

I did finally make it to the stake center and enjoyed a really good talk on journals. I was struck by one thing the sister said...to those who think that 'not much happens around here'; to this person she explained that we all have loved ones who will be interested in our thoughts, feelings, and experiences, and that we can stand to support these loved ones in various ways even after we're gone - through our journals. One thing my loved ones will be able to verify from my journals is the depth of my love and devotion to them...I have said it in real life, and it is recorded multiple times in my journals. They will feel loved, that's for sure, and that might feel good sometimes when things are tough.

Some favorite things...random order:-)

Counter stools - it's harder than you think to find the perfect counter stools. For one thing, great stools cost a lot more than you would think. I have been looking for 7 YEARS, and last week, I found them. Bernhardt Smithsonian swivel stools, wonderful quality and half price, PLUS, if you can believe this, I had a forgotten store credit of $250! The stools were meant for me, and happily the price was good too or in this economic environment I may have been forced to walk away.

I have also discovered two amazing skin/makeup products - that are too good not to share. The first is Olay Definity Color Recapture SPF15 Tinted Moisture. On a day when you only want sheer coverage, this is perfect. It goes on smoothly, isn't greasy, blends well, moisturizes lightly and is anti-aging and anti-wrinkle...ok I don't know how you prove that...but that's the promise:-) I wear light-medium. The fairest isn't really super fair, so the very light skinned are out of luck. It's really lovely, and boasts sanitary dispensing.

Next up is Victoria's Secret Very Voluptuous Extreme volume Mascara...my lashes are not curly or thick, but this mascara both thickens and, more amazingly, curls. I've used mascaras that say they curl, but they do not really curl...this one does.
