Apple

OK, I have to post about AAPL (the name I know it best by) again, because this baby is going up, up, up. I like Apple, and yes, I realize I am not alone in my 'like'. I have an iPhone, so do each of my 3 sons, as does my hubby, and do we have iPods? Yes we do. Do we have computers? Only 6, all of my children including Sarra, and I have two:) If you are interested in learning about stocks, keep a close eye on AAPL. It's a fun one to watch.

What is a snob?

I have included the definition of snob, for your perusal. In my opinion, it refers most to looking down on others, not so much to appreciating pretty things, whether they come from the handmade community, the store, or the BargainFinder. It is not a nice word to use for someone that you care about, especially when used thusly: '...a total snob' which is: a) a vast generalization, and b) again is not applied correctly to people, but to things. If you have been called a snob, because you like to collect items, utilitarian and not, that are pretty and functional...then I feel badly for you, and I can relate, b/c it has happened to me too.

I have also included the definition for backbite (see below).

snob

  [snob]
–noun
1.
a person who imitates, cultivates, or slavishly admires social superiors and is condescending or overbearing to others.
2.
a person who believes himself or herself an expert or connoisseur in a given field and is condescending toward or disdainful of those who hold other opinions or have different tastes regarding this field: a musical snob.

back·bite

[bak-bahyt]
–verb (used with object)
1.
to attack the character or reputation of (a person who is not present).
–verb (used without object)
2.
to speak unfavorably or slanderously of a person who is not present.

Our Yucky Shed

Here are a couple of photos that do not say 'Costco plastic shed' like ours does...ours is only 2 years old, looks like 20, and it's broken from the westerly wind pelting it on occasion. Which of these do you like better? The one that would sort of go with our house, or the quaint one, that would go anywhere? If I put my 'request' in now to the the resident handyman, we may get one of these in the next 2 years:)

YUM YUM fish

I am posting these pictures from our trip to Tokyo because they are so beautiful. We loved the hospitality we experienced there, and the wonderful food, though we didn't sample the treats pictured here. We enjoyed everything about this amazing city, the lights, the noise, the people, the loos, and the incredible politeness, orderliness & cleanliness of Tokyo! We are still trying to figure out where they citizens of Tokyo put their trash - we could never find a trash can:-)

Oscars

My two choices for best actor/actress won this year - I hardly ever watch the Oscars b/c truthfully, I usually don't know the films that well. This year, I had seen, and loved, both films and both of the actors - it was a treat to watch them each win. Congratulations to Sandra Bullock for her role in The Blind Side, and Jeff Bridges for his role in Crazy Heart. Both were standouts for me...but Jeff Bridges in Crazy Heart, that was way over the top great acting, in my humble opinion.

It did not hurt that Sandra looked beuatiful - beautiful dress, beautiful make up, beautiful hair:)

Best Dressed: Sandra Bullock, Cameron Diaz, Demi Moore, and Jennifer Lopez among others.
Worst Dressed: By a mile Charlize Theron, then Sarah Jessica Parker, Tina Fey, Mariah Carey, among others.

Tim Burton - Alice, this is for Sarra

Check out the nails - an idea we loved for toes awhile back. I know you are into Tim Burton:)

5 Stars for Unproductiveness...

I am busy but strangely unproductive...I have had a cold now for a week or so and it's slowing me down. I have lists of stuff to do and I mostly push paper and read:) By the time I get the repetitive stuff done, bills, laundry, errands, etc. done, I don't get a lot of the stuff that would really make me happy done. You all probably have such lists also - two quilts that I really want to finish, two little sewing projects for Charlie and Jacob, cleaning out my storage room that has accumulated too much stuff over the last 8 years. I can't believe that we have been here that long, but it will be 8 yrs in May. I would like to purge some of the tacky old Christmas stuff, old clothes, etc. Just really sweep out the stuff we don't use. Sarra is very good at this...I am too, but not to the point that she is. I have accumulation that she would never allow. She trots ever to the Bargain Barn often with her cast offs, I drop my bags off at the Salvation Army, pretty often as well, but I still want to get rid of more. A lot more. I feel like I talk about this a lot, so I really need to do it...it's blocking my progress somehow!

An Engagement!

My son is getting married!! We are very happy and proud of him and his choice of bride. We wish them all the very best. The planning is not in high gear yet, but will go into high gear in the very near future no doubt with a sort of kind of June/July date in the works. I will post photos as soon as I get some:-) Life is Wonderful!
